My wife and I stayed for 4 nights B+B , and also chose to eat in every night. Nice quiet location for the hotel , but still very near a main road so easy to get out and about. Plenty of on-site parking and the grounds were nice and we saw plenty of rabbits , squirrels etc which pleased the good lady. Would have liked to relax in the gardens but the weather wasn't quite suitable for that.Booked using Tesco vouchers so had a standard double room I imagine. Room was fine (Rm10) although would have been nice to have a slightly bigger window. Having been used to a powershower at home the shower in the room was only adequate. Bed was nice and comfy and the room quiet and clean.
We enjoyed our stay and really have only 2 criticisms . Firstly the restaurant/bar menu isn't that expansive and we struggled to find 4 separate meals that we fancied. On the other hand the food (with the exception of the curry) was very good. Secondly the restaurant was being used by a function for 2 of the nights and for one of the nights the service for our meal was not up to the standard of the other 3 nights. It was borderline poor , whilst the other nights it was very good. Service at breakfast was very good at all times. The service in the restaurant was very good - I suspect the meal in the bar was subject to the bar staff tending the bar and being waiters. Still that should be taken into account and the service for other meal we had in the bar was fine.
I like to end on a positive note and will do so - we would have no issues returning again. A nice touch was a very kind young lady helping my wife down the stairs (there is no lift), I ,alas had run ahead to the bar... (what a cad!) less
