On 9th in great spot for restaurants and shops on 9th at Garfield. Balconies overlooking parking lots and street. Exteremly small (4 tables) breakfast room with cold rehashed potatoes, eggs, 3/4 cooked sausage, razor sliced ham, oatmeal, waffle maker, juices, biscuits and dreadful gravy, yogurt, 5 cartons of milk, bagels, fruit. Free USA Today M-F, local paper, tiny lobby, clean rooms, interior hall, in 3 hotel complex, large room, comfy bed, cushy (fall into) chair, TV, work table and lamp. Dreadful lighting for reading, just table lamps and desk ramp. TV parallel to beds, ample towels, beaucoup pillows. Staff friendly (most) indifferent (one). Same rate as Holiday Inn in Corvallis (give or take) but no view, no extras, not as good breakfast, not as friendly, so although it SHOULD compare, but doesn't because of the shortcomings. . The potential is there but it falls short. Glad we brought our own lamp or we couldn't read except at the table with the super uncomfortable chair. Called the desk but they said no chairs available as they were full, but parking lot had 8 cars and it was mid week in an ice and rain storm so they supposedly have over 50 rooms so they were NOT full despite what they said. WARNING they add a $100 security charge to your credit card. I got an emergency call from my credit card company saying I was over the agreed limit. I called the desk and they said "oh yeah, we put an extra $100" but don't worry, it will come off in a few days. Who does that? The desk said they don't add it til check-out, but I got called in the room while staying there so...obviously they send it through at check in not check out. Disclosing that at sign in would have been a decent thing to do. So, a hiccup there too. Overall, it could do much better. less
