Fantastic location, very substandard quality

The hotel is situated just by the ocean with a fantastic, sandy terrass with natural shade provided by the palm trees. The pool and bar area is also very nice with lots of green and shade and nice furniture for sitting and working or a fantastic spot for sun downers. Decent sized and clean pool. Rooms are of nice size and most (all?) facing the ocean. But:
ACs are so noisy (old) that it is impossible to have them on at night. Rooms without AC during night and un-efficieny of ACs when turned on in combination with the Dar-climate reuslt in rooms, pillows, duvets and everything that has been in the room stinking of mold.
The door to my room had 2-3 cm space between door and floor resulting in loud noice from the corridor.
Food is rather expensive and not very good.
Service at the reception desk is far from perfect, almost every time I passed the reception there was a group of people having some kind of discussion with the staff. our group also had misunderstandings and orders being forgotten. less

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Hotel. It is, however, disconcerting to learn that the humidity in your room had caused your bedding to smell mouldy, for which I apologise. With our open plan architectural design, so as to give our guests the best possible ocean views, we have, after having flown in international technicians to inspect our AC system, come up with what we now believe to be a sollution to the humidity issue caused by the extreme humid conditions in Dar. We are also replacing all our older airconditioning units, which will alleviate the noise. With regards to your other comments, I have taken this up with my management team.
Once again, my apologies for our not having met all your expectations and we look forward to welcoming you back to our Hotel in the near future.
