We booked a 2 night break on a deal that included first night evening meal and for the money it is good value. On arrival at reception we were given our room cards (Room 311) and went to the room on the 2nd floor, some distance from the Reception, only to find that the key cards did not work and would not open the door! Trudged back to reception to be given 2 more keycards to try - no apology or explanation. Back to the room again only to find that the new keycards did not work either! Another trudge with luggage etc back to reception!! Once again no apology but a call was made to a maintenance man to try and sort the problem out while we waited in the bar area. No refreshment was offered while we waited. After 15 minutes the maintenance man appeared and said he had reprogrammed the lock, he came with us back to the room and sure enough we were at last in our room!
After that unfortunate start, we had a nice break - the Hotel and Grounds were lovely, the Staff (apart from Reception) were efficient and friendly.
The restaurant was good and the buffet breakfast was exceptional - Lots of delicious food freshly cooked.
There were several events at the Hotel while we were there and it did get a bit noisy at times - this did not bother us as we like to see people enjoying themselves! less
