We made reservations through hotels.com, which follows the prospective hotel’s cancelation policy (24 hours in advance). However, when we got there, we were very disappointed. The hotel was clearly the cat’s pajamas about fifty years ago. The architecture is interesting, there are many amenities (including a sauna), and the suite we reserved is large. But the room smelled. Old carpets and cleaning fluids. The furniture looked newer. The problem was, the windows don’t open. We looked at another room, which had the same smell. So we called hotels.com and explained the situation. They called down to the front desk and asked if we could cancel without penalty. It ended up costing $25, which is reasonable. We just couldn’t stay there. Too bad. It has lots of potential. We drove to Lafayette and got a hotel for $25 less, so we broke even. less

I’m sorry that we failed to meet your needs and did not live up to your expectations. We take pride in our hotel and in providing a great place to stay for so many guests, and I deeply regret that we let you down. Perhaps you will give us another try in the future so we can do a better job of satisfying you. We’re always working to get better.
