Had almost given up the idea of a few days visiting York as it was so expensive, when this gem appeared in my searches. We were struggling to get a half decent place to stay for under £100 a night and at that , many said “breakfast available” - read extra cost!!! I had to look twice when Burn Hall came up, £89 for the two of us for 2 nights bed and breakfast. They did have another offer running which included dinner on the first night for not much more money. Pictures looked good, reviews good and price amazing, especially for York. We arrived on the Thursday evening after a lovely day in York, reception staff welcoming and friendly. Hotel is really lovely, I was expecting it to be a dreary place that needed upgrading, but far from it. All communal areas, bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated, well maintained and spotlessly clean. The room was a little on the small side, reminded me a bit of a travelodge, again spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and large bathroom. Breakfast was great, help yourself buffet all piping hot and tasty. Restaurant staff very smartly presented and really friendly. The hotel isn’t in York, it’s around 10 miles out, but there’s a park and ride not far away which cost £2.90 each, way cheaper than a day’s parking in York. But then we did use a car park at Fossbank in York at £1.30 an hour too. Would we stay here again, absolutely without a doubt, it’s a lovely place with friendly staff and it’s amazing value for money! Use this place as it would be a travesty for it to disappear while inferior places in the town continue to charge an arm and a leg. We had a fabulous few days and hope to return soon! less
