My friend and I stayed for one night only at this hotel. I had thought that Best Westerns were pretty good quality, but found that this was not the case!
I had booked an Executive King as there were no twin rooms showing on the booking website. So when we checked in I asked if there was something else available. There wasn't, bit the receptionist did offer the gave the bed divided into two, which we readily accepted. We were told it would take about two hours, which wasn't a problem for us.
Four hours later and there was still no sign of it being done, so I called reception. I was advised that housekeeping had gone and a member of the restaurant staff would do it when they finished in the dining room. As the bed was so shoddily dressed I accepted this and waited. Eventually the job was done.
The room was clean but the decor tired. I fell off the toilet as the seat was not attached properly!
The hotel was so hot and stuffy at night I could not sleep. The window only opened a tiny bit and did not make any difference to the temperature. I the morning I did see that a fan was available from reception, but in the middle of the night I didn't want to disturb my friend or reception with making this request.
In the morning at breakfast, we were asked by the maitre d how many people were joining us, several times - it was as though he couldn't believe two women would travel alone! He had a very unkempt appearance for someone of front of house, his jacket was stained and the buttons done up incorrectly.
Breakfast was OK, but very basic. The selection was disappointing - there was nothing in the way of bakery products - just white or brown bread for toast.
For £120 per night, this hotel certainly isn't worth half the price. I would not stay here again, or in any other Best Western. less
