We just stayed here one night only on a very reasonably priced Groupon deal, £44 for one night with Breakfast.
We arrived too late for the restaurant, but we had already eaten on the way
The hotel is very remote, about 15 mins drive to the Park and Ride on the northern edge of York, or 25 mins drive in to town ( park and ride doesn't operate after 8 30 at night, so if you want a night out in York, you will have to drive into the city)
There is a restaurant and bar on site, but you are very much a captive audience as it's about 2 miles to walk to the local village.
The hotel's remote location meant there was absolutely no mobile phone signal, and the wifi was intermittent, no good at all if travelling on business.
The room was fine, nice bathroom, but too hot in the room, and impossible to open the window more than about 2 inches , so it was difficult to sleep, even after turning off heating on arrival.
Breakfast was ok, no cold selection of cheese or meats etc, only a standard sausage, bacon scrambled egg, mushrooms and beans. There was black pudding but no tomatoes? it's possible to have poached eggs and salmon at a supplement.
The staff were all really friendly and welcoming.
All in all, the experience was fine, but I would only come back on a deal, I wouldn't have been happy if I'd been paying the full price. less
