We stayed at the Best Western Buffalo Ridge Inn in Custer on a single day visit where we went to see the Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore. We checked in late afternoon and were given a second floor room. We parked near the closest set of stairs to our room and carried our baggage up.
The layout is more of a motel with most rooms having outside entrances on the first and second floor. There seemed to be a newer enclosed area on the far end of the Inn, but we did not go check it out. The room was an average size with a king bed, table with 2 chairs, desk, console with tv and microwave and refrigerator.
The Inn is not far from downtown Custer, and about 10 minutes from the Crazy Horse memorial and 30 minutes from Mount Rushmore.
There are a lot of things to see and do in Custer by the motel, but be aware that most of it closes early and after 9pm, options are limited.
There is a restaurant on hotel grounds, but we did not try it and it was too pricey for what we wanted to eat.
The hotel was fairly quiet and we slept well. Internet was good and television had many channels. The shower had good pressure and good hot water,
There was a window air conditioner with a remote that seemed to run too cold and we just shut it off.
Breakfast was busy and crowded, so crowded that we just grabbed some donuts and coffee and ran them back to the room. I think there were warm options, but it was just so busy with people standing around we could not tell.
I'm not sure if we would visit Custer again, but if we did, we'd stay at the Buffalo Ridge Inn. less
