Booked weeks in advance for mothers day. Turned up they were short staffed, fair enough I understand these things happen. Got seated, the waiter was a little short when my mum about whether the soup had peppers in it.
Ordered the belly pork starter, the meat looked like a overlooked pork scratching, and along the side salad of limp looking lettuce and strangely some slices of orange, the dish was served warm, not hot!
After my pork scratchings we had the carvery, had it before and was usually okay. I excepted the normal things like the beef was not pink, plates not being hot.
So sat down, food was warm, like it had been just heated under the lights. So we grabbed the manager, you can tell which one the manager is, he's very tall and has a massive tattoo accross his shoulders that you can see through his shirt! Good image for a hotel I thought. Anyway we explained about the food so he stomped off and promptly picked up a parsnip with his fingers and obviously claimed it was fine! Which I thought was a little off as basically he was called he a liar! Then my favourite offer "do you want it microwaved?". We said no and he mumbled something and dissapeared. So we were left with three plates of cold food sitting like lemons! My mum was suitably embarrassed so in the end I had to storm up to the bar, I said excuse me, I am not sure if he heard me. Eventually he turned around and I asked why we had been spoken too, he said that he had told us we didn't have to pay for the food, funny that all three of us didn't hear him say that. I tried to communicate with him but he just had excuse after excuse, I just wanted a hot plate of food. I paid for the wine and left, not that we finished the wine! The receptionist apologised and gave my mum a 25.00 voucher, I explained it was his attitude more than anything. Look I know restaurants have a hard time but at least be polite and you mess up say sorry. less
