Booked here for a business trip, and am now sorry. I am a BW rewards member, but have had so many problems like this I am switching to Marriott. I do not like to complain (and rarely do), but think that BW as a nationwide brand needs to start paying attention and taking this seriously.
This hotel is actually the old style motel with exterior stairs and doors (which usually means old carpeting, old drapes, old everything). Sometimes it's tolerable (like on the Yukon or somewhere there are no other options)... but in general, I am learning to try to avoid such places.
Anyway, I opened up the room and the fake- Air-freshener / carpet cleaner (?) smell was overpowering. You can actually "feel" the heavy air on your skin- like an old heavy cigarette smoke that someone tried to hide with air freshener. Yuck.
Can't deal with this, will probably have to sleep in the truck so that I don't have a terrible allergic reaction before my presentation at a meeting in the morning.
Ok- while writing this, the staff nicely offered to switch me to another room with a window that opens. It smells less (more like cigarette smoke than fake air freshener), and I now have the window open, bathroom fan on, and AC on full blast to try to move the air. Unfortunately, my lungs are still suffering- may still need to spend half the night outside.
(Oh, and while looking for a place to plug in my phone, I found some plastic forks and trash behind the bed. Yuck.)
Again- here to complain- the staff was nice, but this is an issue that BW and their franchise owners need to take seriously. less
