It took a bit of time on arrival in town to find the hotel and park because of the traffic system, but 2 of us had a great 3 day stay in this hotel. It is centrally sited very close to the Abbey and Market Square. It is also right beside Queens Hall. It is a good spot for touring the local countryside, which is really beautiful. Luckily we had great weather also. Hadrian's Wall is not too far away by car.
The accommodation was comfortable, clean and well-serviced and of a reasonable size. We had separate bathroom and toilet. We were on the 1st floor and there was a lift. We had got a deal for £130 per night with breakfast, which was a little cheaper than the usual price. The staff were all delightful and could not be more helpful and informative; a special mention for Joanne and Nichola who were great, though everyone we met there was good. We had help with our bags and with finding the parking. There is very little parking space at the side of the hotel down a narrow alley, but when we were there it was manageable; could be difficult if there were more guests in busy season. I am on Best Western mailing list for deals, but the difference would have been negligible, so not sure if it is worth being on their special list. We would be happy stay there again. less
