No soundproofing and no sleep

We’ve stayed here before several times and considered it to be a good spot for an overnight stay. This time we were very disappointed. The hotel, we were told, has recently been “renovated” and now. our quiet old dog is only allowed on the ground floor. We’re quiet and old too and we’re very worried about people above us. When we expressed our concern to the desk person with the lavender hair, instead of assuring us it would be quiet, she immediately launched into “if you want to cancel and leave, we’ll charge you anyway”. We should have bitten the loss and left right then because the nightmare about to unfold was ridiculous. We had been driving all day and were very tired so went to bed about 9. At 11:30, the thundering above us started. We were both shot out sleep by person or people pounding back and forth above our heads. This racket went on sporadically until 2 a.m. twice, security came and told us the noise was because there is no sound proofing. It seems the “renovation” was a redecoration.
When we left the next day, a different desk clerk told us she didn’t understand why we were put in that room instead of one that wasn’t going to have late check ins above us. The hotel was not full. We feel we treated like trash. It was a horrible experience and lavender hair woman was nasty. We almost feel because we complained about being forced to stay on the ground floor, she made sure we would have a dreadful stay
We will never stay here again. If you want a decent sleep, you shouldn’t either. The place has been tarted up and the rooms look nice but the noise was unacceptable. The sad thing is, I doubt if the thundering herd above us understood how terrible the noise was. The hotel itself, by failing to properly insulate against noise is basically telling the guests they don’t care less
