This hotel was booked for a business stay, the reviews showed that the hotel had recently under gone refurbishment but like all the Best Western Hotels I have stayed in this hotel was just as bad. The hotel reception had indeed been refurbished which looked quite welcoming unfortunately this does not extend to the bedrooms which are tired, old and tatty, I stayed in a standard room which was well worn, a small room with a double bed with lumpy pillows and a creaky sloping floor!
The room faced the main road with only single glazing so was noisy with traffic, being a shift worker I asked to be moved but this was declined, had the booking not been made by my company I would of walked out as the room was not worthy of the price, there are a lot better budget hotels offering far better quality in the area, in fact a woman was complaining about the poor quality of her room at the time of my stay. Unfortunately the majority of the staff were of Eastern European origin and had a poor understanding of English which did not help when trying to resolve a problem.
Breakfast was served in a small dining room, which gets full quickly and you have to wait for a table, a small limited continental buffet breakfast is available and a full English breakfast is cooked to order. A very limited bar and restaurant menu is available at lunch times and evening times, at the time of my visit the restaurant was closed due to a wedding party and is closed on Sunday’s. I did however use the restaurant on the Monday and wish I hadn’t as the burger I ordered was undercooked and gave me the runs!
