This Best Western has a very nice lobby, pool area, and its beach front location is spectacular. You can literally walk right onto the beach and Miami Beach boardwalk. The rate was decent for this amenity. It was also nice that there was a concierge on duty a lot of the time. Although in North Miami Beach, which is definitely quieter than South Beach, there were ample restaurants in the area, and the board walk was spectacular. The hotel pool and outside bar are very nice, and you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas at a discounted rate on the beach.
We had a one bedroom balcony suite with two double beds in the bedroom and bath, and in the living area a pull out couch, balcony, and another bath. I was there on a girls getaway weekend, so having the second bathroom was a great perk! The beds in the bedroom were very comfortable...the pull out couch bed was horrible!
There were a few things that would keep me from recommending this hotel to anyone but a very budget conscious traveller:
Parking - unless you plan to arrive early in the day, don't plan on parking in the hotel parking. For such a large hotel, they had such limited parking it was laughable. Everyone else had to park up the street in a public parking lot off premises (and pay a premium for it.)
Maintenance issues: Although clean, our room had a musty smell (which I later discovered was a drip from an overhead air conditioning vent which caused a huge wet spot in the carpet outside the bathroom door.) There was a light switch that didn't work, and the outlet in one of the bathrooms was not working, making it difficult to use a blow dryer/mirror in the morning. The executive chair at the desk had broken wheels and easily tipped over. Overall, the room just felt a little tired, although the bedding is updated and couch in the living room was nice)
When we booked a balcony room in an ocean front hotel, we expected that we would have at least a partial view of the ocean. Excitedly, we stepped out on the balcony to discover it extended over Collins Ave (a very busy street with muscle cars that roar by 24 hours/day). We were in the furthest location away from the beach. If you stay at this hotel, ask for a room at the rear of the property.
Finally, there's nothing worse than a surprise on your bill at the end of the stay. When I checked out, I discovered there is a "safe" fee (I think it was something like $8.) I don't recall ever seeing reference to this charge in any of the rate details leading up to the stay. I am not one to argue a charge, so I paid it, but it left a sour taste.
To sum up, the best thing about this hotel is it's location on quiet North Miami Beach. If you're looking for a more affordable beachfront hotel, this may very well suit; but if you can afford it, stay someplace else. less

Thank you for your detailed review. We appreciate the comments and value the feedback that helps us to better the hotel and service for our future guests. We are in the process of remodeling the Hotel. All of the guestrooms will be done by the end of December and will have brand new carpet, furniture, etc. For future knowledge, the larger suites all have city views. All of the direct ocean front rooms come with either a King bed or two double beds. If you don't need the extra space and want an amazing view, I would suggest booking those next time. Unfortunately for parking, we only have a limited amount of spaces in the hotel. I always suggest not bringing a car unless you absolutely need it. It is very easy to get around the island without a car and more economical. I do hope you will give us another opportunity on your next visit to come and experience the renovations first hand.
