Four of us have just returned from a two night break at the Best Western Argyll hotel and all of us had a great mid week break.
On entering the hotel you would say it was a bit dated and tired looking but the staff on reception were very welcoming and got you booked in promptly , we had requested two twin rooms and were given one twin and one double , this was rectified very quickly and we were given a family room instead of the double so my mother and sister were very happy.
There are two dining rooms in the hotel one being Italian which you were able to use if you wanted a change we tried the Italian the first night and none of us were disappointed with our choices, the food was excellent and the portion size very good , the second night opted for the main restaurant
And once again could not fault the food or the service, also breakfast in the morning is very good , only criticism would be the £4.50 supplement for the haddock a little bit over the top
One if the first things I look at in a hotel room is the bedding to make sure it is clean and was not disappointed the bed was clean and fresh and the bathroom clean.
To sum up , the Argyll hotel is well worth a visit, food excellent , staff and management welcoming and friendly and Dunoon itself has some beautiful views well worth a drive round, would we go back certainly .
