We spent a week at the Rehlegg and loved every minute. The hotel has an idyllic setting and sits on a hill above Ramsau, surrounded by mountains. It was a convenient location for exploring and hiking in Berchtesgaden National Park. It was about 45 minutes from Salzburg and we enjoyed a day trip there.
The hotel is tastefully decorated in a Bavarian style with light wood accents. All rooms have either balconies or terraces. We had the least expensive room but it had been updated. Very clean with a comfortable King bed, down pillows and duvets, Proflax fleece throws to take out on the balcony. The bathrooms are smaller in these rooms but ours had been updated. Stone vessel sink, Damana toiletries. The lowest priced rooms seem to have several different configurations, some can be small with small showers and are in the original section of the Rehlegg. Our room was not air conditioned and we did borrow a fan. The new addition has the larger, more luxurious rooms. There are 360 degree views of these rooms on the website. We were very happy with our room.
I am not a fan of buffets but the buffets at the Rehlegg were amazing. Most of the foods offered were supplied by local farms and businesses. We loved coming down in the morning. The server would grind the beans and brew a pot of coffee for our table. I loved their coffee. The breakfast buffet was extensive and even included a vitamin juice shot. You could order eggs.
A light lunch is offered but we were gone for that meal. When we returned later in the afternoon, desserts were offered.
The dinners were wonderful. A different soup every night, lots of different salads, a couple of different entrees and a vegetarian offering, vegetables and to my husband’s delight, delicious breads. We finished every meal with a great dessert. All the meals at the Rehlegg were great.
The hotel has 2 pools, one inside and one outside, and my husband swam everyday. The spa looked lovely but we were gone most of the day exploring and hiking and did not use the spa.
The staff were great. Most of the guests were German. We don’t speak German but the staff all helped us figure things out. Many thanks to all at the Rehlegg. It’s a long way from Ohio but we hope to return. less
