Good hotel but some Customer Service training wouldn't go amiss!

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel which, in general, we found to be pretty good. The facilities in the room were OK, it was quiet, despite being near the railway station, and the bed was comfortable.
The attached restaurant (l'Auberge) was excellent (it pays to book a table for dinner as it is very popular), and this is also where breakfast was taken, nwhich was also very good.
Parking underneath the hotel was convenient (book in advance to be sure of a space), and it is an easy 15 minute walk into the picturesque old town of Colmar.
The only negative worth speaking about was the attitude of one of the young girls at reception who either needs to have some customer service training or find another career.
After the first night we noticed that our paper cups (for coffee/tea ) and milk pots had not been replaced so on passing Reception on our way out to dinner we asked if they could replace them. The young lady behind the desk said that the paper cups and milk were only provided on the first night, so "normalement" they would not be replaced if one stayed a second night. I said that I was surprised that a hotel such as this in the Best Western chain were unable to replace a couple of paper cups and milk pots and (somewhat tongue in cheek) asked the young lady if she would be kind enough to make an exception on this occasion. She grudgingly said that she would see what she could do.
Fortunately the cups and milk pots were replaced whilst we were out, but it was a pity that this young lady had behaved the way she did; perhaps she just needs some customer service training or maybe find a career where she is not in contact with the public! less
