Great Room but facilities poor

we'd heard via other travellers on Tripadvisor that the hotel had poor facilities. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, a shower room to die for (bigger than our bathroom at home). Tea & Coffe making facility,free safe, extra pillows, good TV with more than just BBC World Service or News, comfortable& good sized bed, but the biggest surprise - we had air con! The reviews said there was none. However, on discussing our hotel with our fellow travellers, we must have been the only family with air con!
The rest of the reviews were correct. No bar snacks other than crisps, yet every table had a menu for both drinks and pizzas and a couple of other snacks. The door to the bar also showed the menu. The hotel pointed to a vending machine - could not find it & on enquiring discovered that it needed fixing but the manager did not know when that would be! The only place that seemed to be open later (after 10pm when we arrived & after our tours) was the "chippy" but that was well over 1/2 a mile walk & they deep fried everything including the burgers! On Sunday we did find a restaurant which was a bit nearer, their website said it was casual & cosy - ideal. When we got there it was silver service but they let us in in our shorts & trainers - luckily. There are no local taxis to take you further afield ie you have to order one from the next town to take you to that town!
Considering we were doing the battlefield tours of WW1, most of the tours did not get us back to the hotel much before 9pm, therefore too late to look for some refreshments outside, this hotel was actually in the middle of nowhere, not really good for tourists. less

However, on behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future.
I also would like to inform you we do not have a restaurant in our hotel. We just serve some small snacks like pizza, sandwiches, chips, etc in the bar in case somebody would have a little hunger
I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
