My wife and I were completing a two week trip in Uruguay, and needed a hotel for our last night whilst waiting for our flight the next day. This hotel is about 4 miles from MVD so it suited us exactly. The rate was around $93.00 US dollars per night and included breakfast. I thought the hotel's web site said free parking, but maybe I misunderstood.
When we checked I was a little put out when I was informed that they had no parking lot, but that I was welcomed to park on the street. Well, only one problem with that, this hotel is right on the beach near the casino, and parking spots on the street are not easily come by. That was when the hotel showed me a tiny, tiny spot next to the front of the hotel where if you try real hard you can park one or two small cars. That is what I did.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and was just under 10 feet by 14 feet, and had a nice bathroom. There are floor to ceiling windows in this room, and one of those windows opens just like a door out onto a narrow patio. Oddly enough, this is one long communal patio outside, so I guess should someone desire, they could stroll up and down this narrow patio just seeing what they could see. We pulled out curtains to prevent that possibility, and made sure this door was locked.
We were also a bit concerned with the floor. This appears to be a wooden floor, that has been exposed to flooding or excessive moisture for an extended period of time. It has "waffled" and is a bit hard to walk on. The manager told me that they are working to correct this floor problem.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of this hotel. The hotel itself does have its own bar and restaurant. We slept well enough. The breakfast was served in a nice breakfast/dining room. Cozy, and the food was good.
All-in-all, this is just about as good as it's gonna get. I would imagine in the summertime the rate goes up, and for good reason: it is right across the street from the beach on the Rambla.
Nice hotel. Worth a try. less
