Single Night Stay in Quebec

22/09/2016 two2450, New Berlin, WI

Only had two days/1 night in Quebec. The hotel was great. Staff was helpful, room was clean, bed was good, bathroom was fine. 1-2 miles from Port, old town area, Citadelle. walking distance if th... more

Dear two2450, Thank you for this comment regarding your recent stay with us. Any input we can get from our guest is important, as it provides us with guidelines that are essentials to our goal of constantly improve the experience w provide our guest. May I begin by underlining your comments in regards to the state of the room, as comfort, cleanliness and service as these are our top priorities here at Best Western Plus City Center, and I am delighted that our efforts in achieving this goal made for a better experience for you. Then you mentioned staff helpfulness as been another great feature you enjoyed, which is also one that we take great pride in providing our guests with. All personnel are asked to act in the most polite and friendly way, and front desk agents are knowledgeable enough to answer any questions you could possibly have concerning the city. While mentioning it, may I take a few lines to talk about our distance from the main attractions of Québec, which as you stated, are all situated within a mile and a half of our property, but please allow me to convert the distance in Kilometres (KM), as it is the unit of measure that visiting guests will be using when visiting Canada. The Citadelle and its adjacent Battlefield park are situated exactly 2.0Km away from our property, while the famous Chateau Frontenac is located roughly at the same distance, just a few click eastward. The port, with its cruise terminal, still located at a reasonable 2.1Km, is easy to access from the hotel, as the hotel is located at sea level, unlike the Citadelle and the Château Frontenac, where you have to go uphill a bit. If ever Mother Nature is interfering with your travel schedule, public transportation is the way to go, as we are situated right next to the biggest bus terminal in the region, Place Jacques Cartier, with its dozens of bus routes that can bring you in the farer corner of Québec. To conclude, as we think being transparent is appreciated by our customers, we want to make sure that all travelers are informed that our neighbor, the Place Jacques Cartier, is getting a major makeover. In fact, a 20 story building, indoor parking, public place and public library is in complete rebuilding, as part of the many project to revitalise the Nouvo St-Roch neighborhood. The construction site is active from Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. Consequently, the noise level could be greater than normal. We are actually taking all possible measures, and we have very capable staff present onsite 24/24, 7 days on 7 to ensure our guests the most quiet, enjoyable and comfortable stay possible. We thank you again for this review, and we hope to welcome you on your next visit to Québec! Kind regards, Jean-Pierre Gagné – Hospitality and Guest Experience Manager

Dear Jay S. On behalf of the entire Best Western Plus City Center’s staff, I wish to thank you for publishing such a thorough and resourceful review of your stay with us. It is sure to bring light to every Tripadvisor users who are planning a visit to Québec City. To begin, I am glad that you thought our valet service was a convenient, hassle-free way to park your vehicle, as our valet will have it brought around and leave it right in front of the hotel as many time as you wish. It comes way handier than having the trouble of finding a parking spot in an unknown area, and even worst, having to go and fetch it yourself every time you need it, and at 24.00$ plus taxes per night, it is not more expensive than any such service in the area. To add to the value of it, we indeed can keep your vehicle parked in our parking lots even after check-out time, which is 12:00Pm, so up until 4:00Pm, without any extra fee of course. Then, all our rooms are equipped with memory foam mattresses, which provides you with a customized body support that is ideal for people with back problems, but can also enhance the sleep quality of anyone who would lay on it. As for the shower you mentioned, you must be talking about the huge walking shower that are the main feature of our executive rooms. Those rooms are also situated in a private section of the hotel, accessible only by guests staying on these executive rooms on that particular floor. Switching to location now, you are right that we are not inside the walls of Old Québec, although the exact distance from our property to the main entrance to the historical part of the city, Saint-John’s gate, is exactly 1.3KM, so 15 minutes walking distance, with a slight inclination, as you correctly mentioned. Famous Château Frontenac is located another 10 minutes walking distance from the aforementioned gate, and the Cruise terminal, uniquely located right in the hearth of the oldest part of town, Quartier Petit Champlain, can easily be accessed via public transportation from the hotel. To conclude, I am glad that you do mention the transition that is taking place in our neighbourhood, as we try to be as forthcoming as possible on the fact that it may impact the comfort level of your stay, despite our efforts to prevent it. To detail the situation, a major construction site in operating in front of the hotel every weekday between 7:00AM and 5:00PM, and although the project is in its final phase and that most of the work is now done inside, which reduces the noise to a minimum, we do apologize for the inconvenient it may cause to our guests. Dear Sir, may I thank you again for this tremendously helpful comment regarding our property and your experience staying with us, and it will be a pleasure to welcome you on your next trip to beautiful Québec City, l’Accent d’Amérique. Best regards, Jean-Pierre Gagné – Hospitality and Guest Experience Manager.

Dear MAB857, thank you for this perfect 5 out of 5 score review concerning your stay at the Best Western Plus City Center Quebec. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. I first and foremost wish to thank you for commending one employee in particular, Isabelle, and rest assured that your comments were proudly passed on to her. Front desk staffs are on the front line when time comes to enhance a guest’s experience, and they are all instructed to go beyond the call of duty in order to do so, and I am so glad that her performance was met with such appreciation. Then, may I take a few minutes to follow on your comments regarding the distance from the hotel to the Old City, the main touristic attraction site. You are correct when you mention the 15 minutes walking distance from the Old City, but may I add that in that time span, you will reach the main entrance to the fortified part of the city, Saint-John’s gate, and that you will have to walk another 10-15 minutes to reach the famous Chateau Frontenac and the Governor’s boardwalk, overlooking Quartier Petit-Champlain and the Saint-Lawrence River. Talking about it, Quartier Petit Champlain is the oldest part of Québec, with its copper stone streets, its 17th century French architecture (unique in America) and its many art gallery, is the ideal destination if you are looking for an historic experience that will bring you back to the time of Nouvelle-France. Also, Québec is one of the only place in the world that has its Cruise terminal situated right in the heart of the historical area, as it is situated in that same quartier Petit Champlain I just mentioned, so very easy to and from our property. On top of all the most common sites I just mentioned, our neighbourhood, Quartier Saint-Roch, is the new trendy place to be in Québec, with original concept bars and restaurants, delicious Microbrewery and local merchant, whom in all, make for a different and exciting new way of enjoying an already vibrant city. For my final words, may I take this opportunity to inform any travelers who would be interested in booking our hotel, that a major revitalization project of the area is ongoing, and our immediate neighbour, Place Jacques-Cartier, is a big part of the initiative. Therefore, noise level can be higher than usual during operation hours, so between 7:00Am to 5:00Pm on weekdays, and even if this situation is totally out of our control, we wish to apologize for any inconvenient it may cause to our clientele. Once again, thank you for reviewing your stay with us in such a detailed and flattering way, and we hope that you will stay with us again on your next trip to Beautiful Québec City. Best regards, Jean-Pierre Gagné – Hospitality and Guest Experience Manager.

Dear Louise S., it is on behalf of the entire staff here at Best Western Plus City Center Quebec that I am thanking you for posting such a complete comment on your stay with us. We take great pride in offering our guest an unforgettable experience through a friendly and helpful staff, and I am glad that our efforts in that particular matter were efficient. Our front desk agents are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in order to provide you with all the necessary tools to go around the city with ease, such as detailed maps, complete touristic guide, both in French and English, as well as guided tours by bus or on foot. They are also able to point out the most interesting activities for both family and couple, and even assist you in booking some of them. Location wise, we are situated in an up-and-coming neighbourhood, Quartier Saint-Roch, which is packed with bars and restaurants with original concepts and modern ambiance, local merchants where you can find homemade products, as well as at boutiques and high tech businesses. Even more, this part of town is adjacent to the historical part of town, Old Québec, so getting to the most visited attractions is as easy as can be. You can walk 15 minutes to reach Saint-John’s gate and the main entrance to the fortified city, or take the more scenic route through Saint-Joseph Street towards the Old Port, then get on Saint-Paul Street, stop at the Marché du Vieux Port, the farmer’s market, on your way to Quartier Petit Champlain, the oldest part of town, which you will reach within 30 minutes walking. City bus are also a very convenient way to go around town, as Place Jacques-Cartier, right across the street from us, is the biggest bus stop in the entire city. To conclude, in an effort to be as transparent as possible with our future visitors, I would like to mention that, as you surely noticed, there is a major revitalisation project ongoing in Place Jacques-Cartier, our immediate neighbour, and construction are a part of our reality every week days between 7:00am and 5:00pm. Although the project has entered its final phase and that most of the work is now taking place inside, noise level can impact the quietness of the environment, and even with this situation been totally out of our control, we wish to apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause to our guests. Once again dear Louise S, thank you this detailed review of your recent stay with us, and we hope that we will have the honour to welcome you on your next visit to Québec City, l’Accent d’Amerique! Dear Andrew S, thank you so very much for taking some of your precious time to post such a detailed and positive review of your stay with us. It will surely help other travelers in choosing the right hotel for their stay in Québec city. For starters, our location is indeed ideal for visitors who wants to have a different experience from the usual stay in the Old Québec, while still residing within easy walking distance of all the attractions of the historic city. The hotel is located at 1.2Km from Saint-John’s gate, the main entrance to Old Québec, 1.3Km from the Convention center, 2Km from the famous Château Fontenac, and 1.5Km from the Battlefield Park of Plains of Abraham. Cruise terminal, train/bus station and the brand new Vidéotron Center are also all easily accessible form our property. Then, there is the mention that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful, which is something we take great pride in, as it is the best way to enhance our guests experience. Front desk agents, valet and restaurant employees are all bilingual, some may even be able to answer you in Spanish and Portuguese, although it is not a pre-requisite, as been able to speak good English. Front desk is open 24 hours a day, and the staff are always willing to help you with any query or grievance you may have during your stay, always with the purpose of offering you the best experience possible. They can also get creative sometimes, like providing you with water bottles for your long trip back home. Last but not least, our valet service is definitely the most worriless option for you to park your car. At 24.00$ plus taxes per day with unlimited in and out access, they will bring your car to one of our 4 parking lots, and back, within a reasonable time frame, which prevents you from having to find a spot to park in an area that is unfamiliar to you. To conclude, as you may have noticed, major constructions are taking place right in front of our property. The site is active between 7:00Am through 5:00Pm on week days, which can elevate the ambient sound level, although work is now mostly done inside, which helps reduce it to a minimum. Though this situation is totally out of our control, we wish to apologize for any inconvenience it may cause to our guests. Once again dear Andrew S, we wish to thank you for this thorough review of your experience with us, and we hope to be your hotel of choice on your next visit to beautiful Québec City, l’Accent d’Amérique!
