Having visited D,C before, I was looking for a hotel that offered free parking (hoping to save $250- $300 in fees). Nothing in the city suited my needs, or budget, so I looked across the river into Arlington. The Best Western Iwo Jima had a reasonable price for a room, and free parking with a short walk to a major Metro hub. It seemed to be what I was looking for, so I reserved.
I was a little disconcerted at checkin when the clerk looked at me and my wife (both older), and whited out the assigned room number on the reservation form, and reassigned us to a room at the very end of the second floor (walkup).
The room was worn, but clean, with a fridge and microwave oven. Maid service was outstanding freshening our room. We never made it to the pool. The parking garage was old and dark, but I never felt uncomfortable walking to or from my car, or parking.
We got what we were looking for- a clean place to sleep while we visited the capital.
If you're looking a clean, reasonable priced room, free parking, and great access to D.C., give Best Western Iwo Jima a look! less
