My wife and I have stayed at the Center Point Inn during our yearly vacation of 4 and 5 days per year for the last 19 years thus spending thousands of dollars at the Best Western Center Point Inn. Being a disabled Veteran, I have found Branson to be a very nice place to visit every year as long as I'm able. The Center Point Inn has always been neat and clean and staff friendly and accommodating. For many years the wireless internet did not work for "outgoing mail" (this year being the first year we could send email). In the past years few of the maid staff we encountered were able to communicate in English, but we were able to achieve our requests. The main situation we ran into this year for the first time was the removal of two new pairs of shoes we had purchased, ,just hours before, from our room. When confronting the General Manager, we were told that there was a Missouri law that held the customer responsible for their own items. The General Manager then called the person that serviced our room and she admitted removing the shoes and said she discarded them in the garbage. The Manager stated that they were not responsible for this action but would reimburse half of the $131.00 and he stated that he didn't have to do that. I find it hard to believe that the "Spirit" of such a law would not be violated in situations such as this. .My concern is to inform others that may stay at this establishment to be aware that apparently the management refuses to take responsibility for the actions of their employees possible negligence, irresponsibility or possible theft even after their admitting to it. In the future we are looking forward to many more trips to our favorite "Veteran Friendly" Branson but we will not stay in any Motel that will not accept responsibility for their employs...... When your wife came to the desk and said she was missing some shoes, I started to ask her a few questions. When I asked where the shoes were located, she responded, "In a bag, half on the luggage bench and half on the garbage can." When I spoke with the housekeeper that serviced your room she said she remembered the bag but it was on top of the garbage can. She took it into the hall where she passed her garbage bag off to the maintenance personnel that was making a trip to the dumpster. We immediately checked the dumpster but our Saturday pickup had already taken place. I offered to meet your wife in the middle since the shoes were in a bag on top of the garbage can and the housekeeper perhaps should have checked in more thoroughly. Finding large bags of trash on top of or next to garbage cans in our rooms is a daily occurrence. The statement regarding Missouri law was in context to a statement your wife made about the shoes being possible stolen. I offered assistance with contacting the local police department if she felt strongly about a theft and also stated the law. She declined. We regret that you feel we did not treat you fairly with the 50% split of responsibility. We hope your future visits to Branson brings you the happiness you have always experienced and we certainly hope those visits will be with us. In highest regards, Bob W - GM
