Friendly, helpful staff. Easy accessible location for Natural History Museum. 2 minutes from a tube station. Handy location for small eateries. Clean, spacious but basic room. In fact a perfect place for a short trip to London that won’t break the bank. less

The Best Western Burns Hotel in Kensington offers visitors to London all they would need to have a glorious time in this magnificent city. Located in central London, it supplies convenient access to many of the amenities & attractions available, also providing a place of respite from the bustle of this big city given its location in a Victorian Garden Square. Thus, a striking example of being able to have one’s cake, while eating it. It is well connected, being a very easy hop from Heathrow via the Piccadilly line, minutes from Victoria train station, & steps from the Earl’s Court tube station. Many of the things one may wish to see are within easy walking distance, & include the Natural History Museum, Royal Albert Hall, the Victorian & Albert Museum (aka V&A), Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, the famous shopping streets in Knightsbridge & Sloane Street. plenty of fine restaurants, & the famous Portobello Market, renowned for its antiques. My first visit to London was as 21 year-old in 1975 & it was then that I first became aware of the Burns Hotel, often later when I was working in London for Reuters just walking by to see it still there. Since moving to North America I have become a fan of the Best Western hotel franchise as they always seem to supply the essentials & more for a good stay. As an enthusiastic swimmer from a child — well into adulthood —an essential for me is a swimming pool. Of course swimming pools are not as common a feature in British hotels for obvious reasons. In place of a pool to recharge one’s batteries, The Burns Hotel has a magical & secluded walled patio garden where one can breakfast as well as relax after an exhilarating day. Breakfast is from 7 a.m. to 10 weekdays & 7:30 to 11 weekends. It will now also offer a breakfast to go, individually wrapped. The garden is open to guests all day. The patio garden bar is named after Ellen Terry, a leading light of the Victorian stage who lived there in the early 1920s It has 24-hour front desk service, a pleasing 24-hour room service system, WiFi etc. Rooms tend to small but who needs a large room with London to explore? Great location for travel into London, Earl's Court station close by. Room was a reasonable size but a bit hot. The breakfast was the best I have had in a hotel for a long time - made to order and very hot and tasty. Only downside was the bar was not available for a nightcap. less

Stayed in king suite, large comfy room, small bathroom & quiet. Decor is very dated. They could improve stay by fixing shower door, did not close all the way. Book your tour on your own, booked Tower or London at the desk and paid more, Golden tours told hotel staff the price included the audio and it did not. The breakfast buffet was good, and menu items were really good. Staff should let people know if they can order from the menu, our first day the server did not tell us. Overall had a great time, location was close to transit, restaurants and sights. less

We had a great time, would definitely recommend. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and near a lot of restaurants and groceries to pick up snacks. All of the staff we encountered were very kind and helpful. The rooms are small, but the beds were comfortable and the shower was hot. We stayed here on a short layover in London so it was very convenient to get to the usual London attractions. less
