The Baishakhi Mela comes to London's buzzing East End to celebrate the Bengali New Year. Food stalls, parades and rickshaw rides invite visitors to make themselves at home in Banglatown and join in the festivities.
Taking over one of London's most vibrant quarters, the event has grown consistently, attracting bigger and bigger crowds, since its inception. East meets West as the streets fill with Bangladeshi sounds, with everything from traditional folk, Baul and Bollywood to Bengali rock and Bhangra.
The action kicks off early in the day when a colourful procession of musicians, dancers and performers begins at Allen Gardens and moves slowly through Brick Lane and on to Weavers Fields. The main stage plays host to the music and there's also a children's play area, with a funfair, inflatables, clowns, jugglers and lots more.
