Regarded as good preparation for the British Open, Barclays Scottish Open attracts leading players on the European Tour and a host of US stars. From 2011 it has a new home: Castle Stuart Golf Links between Inverness and, coveniently, Inverness Airport.

With attendances of well over 100,000 every year, the competition is a favourite of spectators.

For the European stars on the Tour there is more at stake than pure financial reward: the top 10 players are automatically selected for the European Team to play against the US in the Ryder Cup. Save winning one of the majors, competing in this competition marks a high point in a golfer's career.
