Based in the Merseyside Maritime Museum at Liverpool's Albert Dock, the International Slavery Museum explores the historical and contemporary aspects of slavery. Exhibits address the slave trade's many legacies and relate stories of bravery and rebellion among the enslaved people.
Liverpool was central to the transatlantic slave trade in the 18th century. The museum reveals the exploitation of Africa and its people with powerful and moving displays on the horrific trade.
The museum also presents a programme of workshops and events.
