Music & Nightlife
All year round
Lashings of silk and velvet are liberally draped over every surface at Cafe de Paris, open since 1924. Harpists, cigar girls, sugar daddies and diamante-clad divas are on call to ensure that the collected throng have every need pandered to.
Everyone from Princess Margaret to Prince has partied under the dazzling chandeliers, while the redesign of the VIP rooms, with the outrageous bedroom area, has lured the likes of Kelis, Christian Slater and Will Young onto the red velvet sheets.
Dancing Go-Go girls and showmen provide some extra entertainment, while the music comes from a glittering array of talent, fusing live cabaret with some of the finest DJs in London. Friday and Saturday nights feature a euphoric mix of commercial R'n'B and funky house. The Kitsch Lounge Riot is a monthly Rat Pack extravaganza, recently joined by MTV Base Lounge, which is transmitted across Europe from the main floor every month.
So pick up your silver-topped walking stick, shimmer into your illicit fur stole and sup champagne with the ghosts of the Aga Khan, Noel Coward, Vivien Leigh and the late, great Liberace.
Please check that the club is open on the night you want to go, as sometimes they host private events.
