All year round
Soho's Berwick Street market, incongruously adjacent to the remaining dregs of the area's moribund sex industry, has stalls selling cheap fruit and vegetables, cheese, fish (beware of buying it on a Monday - it isn't fresh), flowers, bread and cheap CDs. The lusty-lunged vendors' impressive barking is an added attraction (rumour has it that Marc Bolan of T-Rex started out his vocal career here).
Lining the street are many good second-hand record shops and fabric sellers and the butcher, Simply Sausages, also does extremely good sausages. The market is frequented by a mix of fashion and media types, suits, shady characters and tourists, so it's an entertaining place for a wander.
