in Sport & Outdoors at in Ascot Racecourse
All year round
Adjacent to Windsor Great Park, Ascot Racecourse was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and is arguably the most famous in England. The queen is remembered in the opening race of the Royal Ascot meeting, the Queen Anne Stakes.
The modern-day Ascot features three main enclosures from which the public can view the action, though the Royal Enclosure remains very much restricted to the privileged. Royal Ascot is the highlight of the course's racing calendar, taking place in June. Social butterflies flock in their thousands to watch the races and, more importantly, compare the designer dresses and theatrical hats on display.
