Nottingham Playhouse's 1963 landmark building (now Grade II-listed) is famously complemented by Anish Kapoor's burnished concave Sky Mirror. Inside the company produces not only an annual pantomime but a varied programme reflecting the city's multicultural population.
Following 2010's pantomime, Mother Goose (to 22 January), 2011 sees the return of last year's hit Forever Young, where the seniors are still rockin' the joint (3-19 February). Dance takes over (22 February-8 March) with Danish and Australian Dance Theatres flanking Ailey 2, followed by Flawless.
After his acclaimed Playhouse adaptation of On the Waterfront, Steven Berkoff returns with his version of Sophocles, Oedipus (23 March-9 April), while Ibsen's The League of Youth, adapted by Andy Barrett, takes us up to summer (13 May-1 June).
Already announced is 2011's pantomime: Cinderella (25 November-14 January).
