There isn't another meal more important than breakfast, that's why here at the BEST WESTERN Monkbar Hotel we want to make sure it's the best you'll get. Old spot British Pork sausages, local eggs, fresh porridge and a whole load of other options to choose from.

Cloisters Restaurant
Cloisters is a traditional restaurant, serving a very modern British and European style menu to reflect the qualities and experience of our kitchen brigade. We pride ourselves to ensure all our produce is locally sourced and seasonal, great food comes from amazing ingredients. Were always happy to cater for individual dietary requirements, and guests can request their particular favourites at check-in (dishes, not Chefs!).

Monkgate Suite
Our largest function suite the Monkgate Suite is ideal for private parties. Situated next to our secluded courtyard the room offers ground floor access & air conditioning. The large dance floor & private bar within the room mean your guests can be well looked after as they dance the night away. A great choice for Christmas Celebrations too!

Liberty Bar
The Cloisters Bar is open 7 days a week from early morning until the last guest retires. We offer a wide range of lighter meals, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Our knowledgeable staff are always delighted to discuss your particular requirements or to advise you on the secrets in our cellar. Tea and coffee is available throughout the day in both the bar and lounge.
The Liberty Bar is also open to non-residents.

Eezie Ochieng is our Head Chef, having joined the brigade eight years ago. He trained in Kenya and worked at the world's most famous game reserves in South Africa before he was enticed by the delights of York! We think he's the very best Yorkshire Pudding maker in England - but his recipe is a closely guarded secret!
