Delicious food in gorgeous restaurants

Cardoon at Keavil House offers a varied menu of light dishes to modern Scottish dishes using locally sourced, quality food, which is served in a relaxed and stylish setting.

With a traditional but simple design, rich colours and a bright, airy conservatory overlooking our peaceful garden, which even grows the plant after which the restaurant is named. Cardoon is certainly not in the style of a conventional hotel restaurant.

Breakfast Information

A delicious hot and cold buffet breakfast is offered. From the cold buffet choose from fresh fruit salad, prunes, berry compote, yoghurt, figs, grapefruit, a selection of juices, cold meats and cheese. From the hot buffet select from sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, black pudding, haggis, baked beans, sauted mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and hash browns. Guests can order straight from the kitchen delicacies including porridge with heather honey, smoked haddock and grilled Arbroath kippers.

Dinner Information

Cardoon restaurant offers imaginative cuisine created with the best of local produce. Dinner menu is changed regularly. Guests can enjoy 35 day matured sirloin of beef, which the chef teams with green bean, hazelnut and watercress salad, rosti potatoes, red wine and peppercorn dressing. Sea bream, Barbary duck and chicken with king prawns are popular choices that delight both regular guests and newcomers.



In Cardoon Restaurant, our Head Chef, Phil Yates and his team prepare a wide choice of food from, light starter dishes such as Vodka & beetroot cured salmon, to modern Scottish starters such as Oatmeal crusted haggis. Traditional Scottish main dishes such as roast rump of lamb, Grilled ribeye of Borders beef to vegetarian dishes such as Spring leek, nettle & wild garlic risotto.
