Mumbles Pier opened in 1898, built as a terminus for the Swansea to Mumbles Railway. It also has its own little beach, and rockpooling underneath the pier is popular in the summer.

Dipping Bridge

Cross the 15th-century Dipping Bridge over the River Ogmore into Merthyr Mawr village. Local legends recount that the local innkeeper robbed murdered pilgrims at this point for their belongings, and farmers dipped sheep through the parapets.

Trace the River Ogmore from north to south as it winds through Bridgend alongside Angel Street. Spot salmon and heron from the footbridges or follow the river to the picturesque outlying village of Merthyr Mawr.
