Edinburgh Marathon Festival

The Edinburgh Marathon - Britain's second biggest - is the climax of a May festival weekend attracting 30,000 runners. There is also a half marathon, a team relay, 10km, 5km and junior runs through Scotland's historic capital.

The marathon route, run by over 14,000, takes in the major Edinburgh sights - Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, Scots Monument, Holyrood Palace, New Parliament Building and ends in Holyrood Park.

The money raised goes to various charities, including Oxfam, Macmillan Cancer Support, Breast Cancer Care, Alzheimer Scotland, Guide Dogs and the British Heart Foundation. 

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is a spectacular, heart-warming event, celebrating the capacity for both human endurance and charitable spirit.
