The O2
The former Millennium Dome has a new lease of life as The O2 music venue. London's most controversial building, close to Greenwich on the River Thames, now rocks to the sounds of superstar performers like Prince and Bruce Springsteen.
Alongside the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena is the more "intimate" indigO2 (a mere 2350 seats), restaurants, bars, clubs and an 11-screen cinema. It can even be converted to host sport, and will be home to the finals of the gymnastics and basketball at the 2012 Olympics.
Described by its architect - Richard Rogers - as a "21st century Stonehenge", the structure is 365 metres in diameter, a kilometre in circumference, 50 metres high and (rather amazingly) could hold 3.8 billion pints of beer.
