Pitlochry Theatre Season
The Pitlochry Festival Theatre hosts its annual summer programme in the midst of some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery. Visitors can see up to five different shows a week at one of the country's most famous summer seasons.
Now into its second half century, Pitlochry Festival Theatre in 2012 continues its run of successful musicals with Little Shop of Horrors opening the season (18 May-13 October). Scottish themed plays come in the shape of the Scottish première of Patrick Barlow's sparkling four-man version of John Buchan's The 39 Steps (24 May-13 October), as well as JM Barrie's "comic midsummer fantasy" Dear Brutus (9 August-10 October).
Comedy always goes down well in Pitlochry, and Alan Ayckbourn is never off the bill for long. This year it is his time-travelling comedy thriller Communicating Doors(5 July-11 October), joined by Joseph Kesselring's classic black comedy Arsenic and Old Lace (3 October-3 November).
Contrasting with the comedy is Patrick Hamilton's chilling dissection of the perfect crime, Rope (31 May-12 October).
