St Mary's Church
St Mary's Church is the most striking of the religious buildings in Swansea city centre and embodies much of the city's history.
St Mary's houses a number of works of art, including paintings by Swansea artists (including Ceri Richard's Deposition) and highly-regarded stained glass, again the work of artists with Swansea connections (including the Millennium Window in the west wall, designed and made by Martin Donlin and the School of Architectural Stained Glass at the Swansea Institute). There are also works by John Piper, an internationally renowned artist of the second half of the 20th century.
A timeline inside follows the history of the local area, especially the events surrounding the Blitz and the rebuilding of the present church. Free organ recitals take place every week in summer.
