Athelhampton House and Gardens

Athelhampton is often cited as one of the finest examples of 15th-century domestic architecture in the country. Essentially a medieval house, it is surrounded by walls and courts, with a great hall, an oriel window and a unique timbered roof.

The River Piddle flows through the amazing Grade I gardens, dating from 1891, which have impressive fountains, while fine collections of tulips, magnolias, clematis and lilies can be seen in season.

Popular with visitors who enjoy strolling its tranquil surroundings and exploring its grand halls and corridors, Athelhampton House and Gardens also draws guests to the theatre performances that are occasionally hosted here.
