Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower
This museum in Gosport traces the history of naval firepower. It's not the best place for pacifists or those of a nervous disposition, as visitors come face to face with the atom bomb, the Gatling Gun and the Exocet missile.
Located within listed 18th-century buildings based around the original powder magazine from 1777, the museum is not all about bangs, as it looks into the human history of those who supplied the Royal Navy for 200 years and the social and moral consequences of warfare. There are plenty of audiovisual effects on hand, computer interactive and hands-on displays, as well as a book and gift shop, plus a coffee shop with views over Portsmouth harbour.
