Erddig
Erddig house and estate are set in a huge woodland country park just outside Wrexham. This fully furnished 18th-century house offers visitors a unique insight into servants' lives during the 18th and 19th centuries.
The hall is a fascinating National Trust house, not least because of the unusually close relationship that existed between the family of the house and their servants.
Outbuildings include a kitchen, laundry, bakehouse, stables, sawmill, smithy and joiner's shop, while the stunning state rooms display most of their original 18th and 19th-century furniture and furnishings, including some exquisite Chinese wallpaper.
The beautiful garden is one of the last surviving from the 18th century, with a large walled garden, a Victorian parterre (a formally designed area with paths between flower beds) and a yew walk. The extensive park offers many woodland walks with around 13 miles of footpaths and visitors can also enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides around the estate.
Please note: the house is closed on certain days of the week according to the season - please call, or check the National Trust website, before visiting.
