Bowood House offers visitors a family day out in parkland landscaped by Capability Brown, surrounding a historic stately home with Robert Adam interiors. The park's beautiful Rhododendron Walk bursts into flower every May along with the bluebells.

The Lansdowne family have owned Bowood House since 1754 and the Marquesses of Lansdowne have been Prime Ministers of England, Viceroys of India and peers in the House of Lords for centuries.

Those echelon times may have passed, but today there's still plenty to see, including Robert Adam interiors, superb Flemish tapestries, Queen Victoria's wedding chair and even Lord Byron's Albanian outfit!

The gardens are a treat in their own right, encompassing almost every phase of English garden design from the early Georgian period onwards, and featuring an arboretum, pinetum, Rhododendron Walk and children's adventure playground.
