New Year with the RSNO
Start the New Year with two traditional concerts given by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at home at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. First is a matinée performance of Handel's masterpiece Messiah, followed by a night of infectious Viennese waltzes.
Renowned Baroque specialist Roy Goodman conducts Messiah with the RSNO Chorus. McGegan is joined by soloists soprano Ailish Tynan, mezzo Catherine Denley, tenor Thomas Hobbs and bass-baritone Matthew Brook.
The following evening conductor David Danzmayr is joined by Ailish Tynan for the carefree music of the Strauss family - the Waltz Kings of Vienna. Expect such immortal melodies as Johann Strauss the younger's Blue Danube and Tales from the Vienna Woods waltzes and his overture to Die Fledermaus, as well as his father's march, Radetzky.
