Dead by Dawn Horror Film Festival
Quite literally a horrifying fixture at Edinburgh Filmhouse since 1993 (bar a break in 2010) Adele Hartley's Dead by Dawn Festival, was Britain's first film festival devoted to horror. Gorge on gore for four days of non-stop terror, blood and screams.
As well as showing classics and UK premières in Cinema 1, over Saturday night into Sunday there is the annual Spawn of Dawn, with five features and ten shorts shown back to back. Will you survive the night? Thankfully there's a late bar during the festival!
In 2012 some of the films on offer include Below Zero (a Canadian film where the protagonist gets locked in a freezer), Hispanic chillers Juan of the Dead and Lobos de Araga, and a Far East contingent such as South Korea's Haunters and Japan's Red Tears.
