Burns House
Robert Burns' final home, this humble sandstone building in Dumfries, is now a much-visited museum and simply called Burns House.
Having spent the last three years of his life in Dumfries, Burns died in this house in 1796, aged only 37. The house has changed little since the poet's days and includes many items of furniture that were part of the Burns family's daily life. The chair in which "Rabbie" wrote his last poems is the highlight of the collection.
The house also contains many items of written work, from letters and manuscripts to the famous Edinburgh and Kilmarnock editions of the Poems.
On the other side of the Nithe River, visitors to Dumfries can learn more of Burns' life and works at the Robert Burns Centre.
