Diana's Dresses

Kensington Palace offers a permanent display of dresses worn by Diana, Princess of Wales. The collection of 14 evening dresses has been established within the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection following a series of temporary exhibitions.

Highlights of the display include a lavishly-embroidered pink silk dress with matching bolero jacket worn to a State banquet in India in 1991 and the "Travolta" dress, an ink blue silk velvet dress, worn for a dinner at the White House in 1985 at which the princess danced with Hollywood star John Travolta.

In addition to Diana's Dresses, the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection also includes examples of the gracious age of highly-elaborate court dresses and gold-embroidered uniforms. Dating back to the 1750s, the collection tells the story of ceremony and style in a dazzling collection which includes dresses belonging to the Queen.
