Islington Farmers' Market
Every Sunday morning Islington's healthy eaters converge at the top of Essex Road (opposite Islington Green) to snap up fresh farm produce from Islington's Farmers' Market.
There's an abundance of herbs, cut flowers and plants and unusual salad leaves. Choose from wild rocket, red mustard and red amaranth if you're lucky. Like the fruit and vegetables, the majority are organic and unsprayed. Goat's cheese and a series of unpasteurised cows and sheep milk cheeses are also available
Don't worry omnivores, this is not an open-toed sandal brigade convention. In fact, it could well become your regular haunt. Meats vary from pork, bacon and sausages to organic fowl, beef and lamb, and there are succulent displays of seafood, including fresh lobster, mussels, crab, fresh and smoked trout.
Other produce includes organic breads and cakes, honey and honey products, mushrooms, organic vegetables and organic and free range eggs.
