Links Market
Kirkcaldy's Promenade transforms under the weight of a huge funfair and street festival. The mile-long "market" is filled with every conceivable fairground attraction - some scary, some tame, as well as food stalls for those who can stomach it.
Originally the market was held in Links Street, hence its name, but moved to the Promenade as it grew in size. The first Links Market was said to have taken place in 1306 (or 1304 depending on who you listen to), when King Edward I granted Kirkcaldy a weekly market and an Easter fair.
At first, only goods such as linen and food were sold, but eventually the Easter Fair became the Links Market we know today, including stomach-churning fairground rides.
