Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon-boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradtion, where large teams of rowers compete on vessels each with its own drummers. A fun, friendly event, this festival on the River Cam welcomes participants of any level and supports East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

The Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival is open to everyone and more than 50 crews regularly register to battle it out over the 250m race course, with many hundreds more spectators gathering to watch and cheer from the riverbanks.

As well as the race itself, plenty of bankside entertainment is laid on to keep everyone amused, including a funfair, roadshow and Chinese lion dancing.
