Black History Month
Black History Month is celebrated throughout London during October. Music, cultural and political events commemorate the role that Black people have played in British history, and celebrate their positive influence on society.
Black History Month (BHM) started in 1926 when the editor of the Journal of Negro History, Carter G Woodson, established African Caribbean celebrations in America which are still held in February every year. The success of the event in America meant it was soon transported over to London as well, where over 60,000 BHM events take place every year.
Please visit the BHM website for full details of the programme.
