Open Air Theatre Regent's Park

Forget stuffy auditoriums and enjoy the pleasures of Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Combining natural beauty, atmosphere and choice drama, current artistic director Timothy Sheader has expanded the repertoire to programme high drama and musicals as well as Shakespeare.

The 2012 season has two main productions, bringing back Shaekspeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream back to Regent's Park after an absence of a number of years. What could be better than a performance of the Athenian-forest-set and fairy-led comedy, leading to the marriage of three couples and a chaotic entertainment by a group of tradesmen on midsummer night itself?  The production runs, in repertoire, from 2 June to 5 September.

Alternating with Shakespeare is another of a long line of successful musicals in Regent's Park.  After Sheader's last three major musical productions - Hello Dolly (2009),Into the Woods (2010) and Gershwin's Crazy for You (2011, which is the first-ever Regen'ts Park production to transfer direct into the West End) - in Olympic year there is a production ofRagtime The Musicalbased on EL Doctorow's novel of the same name (18 May - 2 September).

Especially for Olympic year, all tickets during the Olympics are priced at £20.12 if booked before 30 April and, the seating of the theatre is being specially adapted for the whole season, with a thrust stage and extra side seating, making an naturally intimate theatre even more intimate.
